Coffee with a view

Who doesn’t love a good cup of coffee? What is even better than that is a good cup of coffee with a view… and maybe a snack or two! There are so many good cafés and coffee shops in and around KwaZulu-Natal and we are here to share a few of them with you!

Go meandering though the Midlands area, our very own countryside, with rolling green hills and pictures of paradise. Be sure to visit The Barn Owl on Curry’s Post Road. Sit back, relax and sip on a great cup of coffee whilst nibbling on some treats. If you’re a little hungrier, this establishment also offers larger meals, with a menu with keeps on evolving. The building where The Barn Owl is situated was built with reclaimed wood and refurbished furniture, with one side of the Café being made up entirely of glass windows, allowing the outside in.

On the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal, is our very own coffee bean plantation, where visitors are able to sample the coffee as well as purchase their range of freshly roasted beans. The Beaver Creek Estate coffee shop serves a range of meals and freshly roasted coffee all day. If you’re looking for something to do other than just having a sip or two, you can join in on their daily crop to cup tour that showcases the distinctive flavours of coffee around the world, as well as the processes involved in creating the perfect Beaver Creek cup of coffee. Take in the views of the estate, you won’t be disappointed!

More centrally located, if you’re looking for coffee with more of an atmosphere, be sure to visit Antique Café in Morningside, Durban. A family-owned business who roasts their own coffee under the “Grind Coffee Roasters” label, once you walk through their doors you feel like family. Decorated with exquisite antique furniture, with an indoor and outdoor setting, you will be pleasantly surprised at just how magical this Café is. With a bookshelf filled with interesting reads, you can keep yourself entertained while enjoying a light or heavier meal and a great cup of coffee!

For the more sporty or adventurous, there’s always The Bike & Bean Café, a more casual coffee shop situated on the promenade on Durban’s main beachfront. This is definitely the place for all cycling enthusiasts, joggers and passer-by’s to stop off for a quick cup of coffee and a meet-and-greet with like-minded individuals. With 180 degree ocean views, this is the place for a good cup, great conversation and a great view!

We told you… KwaZulu-Natal really does have it all!
